Stansted set for 100 million passengers in four years

London Stansted Airport is gearing up to welcome the 100 millionth passenger using its facilities over the last four years.  This significant milestone will have been achieved since MAG took ownership of the airport in 2013, and follows the airport recording its busiest ever summer season with a total of over 10m passengers passing through the terminal during the months of June and September.

Over the last four years, the airport has added nine new airlines including, Primera Air and British Airways.  Its route network has also increased to more than 190 destinations across the globe thanks to airlines such as Ryanair and TUI, and to the £150m invested in transforming the airport passenger experience.  In particular, leisure carrier is expanding its Stansted network again for the summer of 2018 and will fly to 37 destinations from the north-London airport – see from London Stansted for more information on the airline’s destinations.

To celebrate, London Stansted Airport is hosting a series of giveaways, events and in-terminal celebrations throughout November, to surprise and thank its passengers, employees and partners. A #1in100million campaign has now been launched in the airport. For one lucky passenger who passes through the airport over the next month, London Stansted Airport will surprising them with two tickets to New York, courtesy of Primera Air.

Ken O’Toole, Chief Executive at London Stansted Airport, said: “I am proud to be part of this fantastic airport as we celebrate this milestone, with our passengers and all staff alike. The airport team here has grown to 12,000 over the last four years and through them, we have strived to become the airport of choice in London and provide the choice, value and service our passengers deserve. Here’s to the next 100 million.”
