Bristol welcomes Santa

On Monday December 13, Bristol Airport welcomed an festive guest when Santa Claus joined children from the southwest of England on a very special flight around the region.  Thanks to the tremendous generosity of the airport and its ground staff, Thomas Cook Airlines and its Bristol-based aircrew, Swissport and OCS, the one hour trip aloft brought a great deal of pleasure to children with disabilities or special needs, as well as those in a family in which a bereavement had recently occurred.

The event was organised by the fantastic community relations team at Bristol Airport, and was supported by a number of local charities and support groups – including Fly2help ( which aims to improve the emotional well-being of children and adults coping with physical disabilities, distress, anxiety or isolation by arranging experience days centred around flying.

Airports of the World is extremely grateful to have been invited to witness this truly great event, and was humbled to see how much happiness the Christmas spirit can bring to the lives of some youngsters that might have had a hard time recently.

It was all for a fantastic cause – helping children enjoy a day out and allowing them to meet a very special guest.

Thomas Cook’s mascots Bernie and Lollo were on hand to greet the passengers.

The magic of Christmas – everyone wants to meet Santa.

Even the cabin crew were having fun – just the cabin to tidy up now then!
